The Traditions Of Men
Article By רון קאש
From Ju-Ju to Kim Pu to Ashkenazi too, the traditions of man mean nothing.
While speaking with a young Hebrew man in Jerusalem, who thought he was a Jew, I asked about the holidays of the Lord. He said, "it's just family tradition, It means nothing."
Later, I realized what I should have said back. Since his ancestors had lost the right to call themselves Jews while speaking with our Lord at the temple, his identity as a Jew also means nothing, because it's just family tradition.
Over the years it has become more clear how that all came about. When Moses was on the mountain and all the people received the ten commandments and took the name of God, Yehudim, יְהוּדִּים , They thought God was making them into an institution. When He said "my people who are called by my name", they thought they were representing God.
Later, they began to think only people born Jewish could be saved, as if it was a bloodline blessing.
Thing is, God doesn't work that way. He doesn't hand over His kingdom to lessor kingdoms. The only reason the Hebrew people were entitled to use His name, beginning at the mountain is, they promised to follow His rules.
After many years and much suffering and failing to follow those rules, and rejecting Him in person; God took that privilege away.
The only institution with God's name is a group of people who follow Him and keep His commandments. No matter what race, color, ethnicity or country of origin, God's family is one because of obedience and faithfulness. That's probably why He said, "many are called but few are chosen".
